Eurogenes K12b thread

it would be good if someone puts the k12b results of these ancient southern levantines so we compare but at least some of this east african component might be ancient for some levantine groups :

It's interesting that they would claim that much SSA ancestry for all those ethnicities mentioned above. Especially for Mizrahis. I don't know how much SSA Ashkenazis and Sephardics have, the number would greatly vary but at least the admix calcs don't detect 3-5% SSA for Mizrahis. It would make more sense if Ashkenazis and Sephardics had more SSA but I doubt that even they have as much as 5% SSA. I believe even Samaritans don't score any SSA so why would Northern West Asian Mizrahis score any more than them? It's interesting...

As they pointed out, it wasn't initially detected in previous studies but with a deeper and more refined analysis they are able to detect such signal. The same thing happened for Iberians with more recent studies highlighting an old SSA signal.

anyway a bit off topic but people should really avoid treating SSA ancestry as some kind of parasite component ...the way these people are alienated just goes too far sometimes. There is also this tendency to put every type of SSA ancestry in the same bag/under the same label meanwhile there is more genetic diversity in this part of the world than in any other part.

All I am saying is that 3-5 % is a lot. Especially for Mizrahis🙂 it would be interesting to see what k12b would show in this regards

Well, tell me
Ashkenazis and Sephardics are closely related groups that have inhabited mediteranean and european zones of Eurasia. According to the most widely spread concepts Ashkenazis are roughly 1/2 Samaritan like and 1/2 European whereas Sephardics are a little less Euro and more Samaritan like with a little NA admix.

Mizrahis are interrelated group of populations that settle Western Asia and one group(Bukharan/Uzbek Jews) inhabits central asia as their name already suggests.

I might made a mistake then?

This person has the surname "Kohanim" (please dont quote this comment then, as im gonna edit it out), and seems to be invested in jewish cause(just affiliated with jews in general). But its a woman, so if surname is jewish, perhaps she is married to a jew?

It is ambiguous what ethnicity they are since saying that they are jews doesn't mean much. I guess one could tell what they kinda are looking at their SW Asian, Caucasus, Med West central asian scores

Cohanim are priests. I mean there is no way that Ashkenazi and Sephardic cohanim can score anywhere near 21% west central asian so if anything there is a good chance that the kit belongs to bukharan jew. Bukharan jews have a decent amount of Iranian ancestry

Although at the same time the SW asian score is quite high than what bukharan jews would probably score so I am not 100% sure

Considering mesopotamian jews and indian jews, its funny to think there are jews out there with afghan heritage(if they dont score almost like afghans? Even had a dna match with what could be an afghan jew, who scored almost like a regular afghan)
