the thing is that for me passing doesnt mean that some stupid people on the street will take one as their ethnicity even though he/she doesnt look it only because some very loose parameters match (like being swarthy for example)

no you look more stereotypically anatolian/west asian than south euro but when you were younger you looked indeed somewhat greek but it doesn't mean that now you don't look somewhat similar to south-east euros of course

and I'd say that most southern euros overlap more with levantines than french people like I said you seriously believe people in iraq will immediately know you're a foreigner ? Come on myself I don't look iranian or afghan at all and yet I know none will see me as a foreigner there

In case of iraqi arabs yes. I don't look like someone they see every day. They also don't see a lot of foreign looking faces to begin with in their everyday lives. This levantine thing is also insane because i don't deny that I can pass as levantine but not to that extreme degree😄

While the other guys dont strike me as kurdish at all, the guy on far left(guy wearing cap) has something very kurdish about his face(more like iraqi kurdish though. I seen some types of iraqi kurds, that i dont see amongst turkey kurds, that still dont look non-west eurasian).

nope proper arabs in the levant are much more mixed than arabs in saudi arabia or Iraq and the fact that you lived in georgia might explain why you seem to have a stereotypical view of these people

Arabs living in southern and eastern syria are of bedouin stock and are close genetically to saudis, iraqi arabs and jordanians included. There is no reason to deny this.

I think you are one of those people who think of alawite syrians and lebanese as whites or euros of western asia which is BS. It is also not about the skin color that I am concerned about it is facial features as well. I don't have typical levantine facial features and that's that. I pass better in southern europe and in a few parts of western asia compared strictly northern levant.
