many people wrongly imagine Kurds as south asian looking / leaning / overlapping . even though it is not true at all . we dont look south asian and we are actually one of the "whitest" "MENAs" there is . both genetically and phenotypically

it is scary . seriously . totally unreal and bizarre

i am sure there are 3 major reasons why people assume that Kurds must look south asian or gypsy :

1. people who hate Kurds (certain turks , assyrians etc.) spreading nonsense about Kurds online . like "Kurds came from india" , "Kurds are gypsies" or other bullshit

2. we have many gypsies living in Turkey including in Kurdish areas (and also in other Kurdish regions outside of Turkey) . our gypsies (mostly Dom gypsies) are one of the most unknown gypsies as i explained before . and their number is highly underestimated . and there are also Kurdish + gypsy mixes as well as many Kurdish + arab mixes in Turkey . i even talked to such a guy (he is 1/4 gypsy 3/4 Kurdish) on reddit not too long ago . and i have a gedmatch kit number of a half gypsy half kurdish person and also some other kit numbers who seem to be either kurdish + gypsy mixes or turkish + gypsy mixes

and many of our gypsies larp as turkish or kurdish too . and on some crowd or group pics of Kurds there will be gypsies on them too and also mixed people .

and as i said on top of the page Ibrahim Tatlises is one of the best examples for this bullshit . he is half arab and half dom gypsy but says he is Kurdish and people always say he is Kurdish . but he is not . i used to think his mom is Kurdish but a gypsy man who knows a lot about gypsies and knows who is gypsy and who isnt said very confidently that ibrahim tatlises mother was a dom gypsy . and in ibrahim tatlises show (ibo show) many of the guys in the background playing music are Roma and Dom gypsies


3. people wrongly assume that being Iranic means = south asian like . which is utter horse shit . first of all there is no uniform Iranic people because there are big differences among Iranic speakers . like Ossetians are Iranic , Tajiks are Iranic , Balochs are Iranic . yet they are all different from each other . Kurds are northwest Iranics and we dont have south asian admix unlike Balochs and Pashtuns (and even balochs and pashtuns are often clearly different from south asians btw) . . our average s.indian score from harappaworld for example is 2.15 % . i calculated it with more than 40 Kurdish kit numbers . so close to zero . and it is ancient too . we have nothing to do with south asians ffs . and by the way we are genetically and lookwise closer to Ossetians who are also Iranics .... than to east Iranics yet people never mention this in threads . being Iranic has nothing to do with being south asian ....Iranic is NOT south asian . and 2. language is not race anyway .

look at the THOUSANDS of Kurds i posted in this thread and you will CLEARLY see that we dont look like south asians . and no we also dont look "more like south asians than other west asians" either . it is not true . in fact we are more "northern" and "whiter" than Levantines and Assyrians , Iraqis etc. . we are northern west asians and are similar to Anatolian Turks , northwest Iranians like Gilakis , Talysh , Armenians , Pontic Greeks , Cypriots etc.

and yet we are ridiculously misportrayed


it is scary . seriously . totally unreal and bizarre . just look at this :
