My question is does the south Asian have both aasi and steppe component mixed in by default or is south Asian referring to aasi?

i dont think it is only AASI but it is mostly south asian for sure . i dont know bow to explain ....like the south asian component in this calc really comes from south asia . probably ASI which has a little west eurasian still compared to AASI

and it doesnt seem to have steppe in it

but anyway it will make people curryoid

Makes sense because I know even Tamils have only 83 max aasi. If India didn’t receive steppe and west Eurasian ancestry, they would resemble andamanese more

tamils are more like 60 iirc

by the way sri lankans score 60-65 south asian in this calc

and check out the 2 indians on first page who score over 80 ...they basically represent how the component looks like lol
