As the title says. Its been a while since I have been on, so I am a bit behind when it comes to the updates and all that good stuff. And what should we expect in 2025 on 23andme and AncestryDNA

I'm wondering too especially for 23andme since they haven't released any ancestry composition updates in a while! I'm hoping for improved ancestry composition features and better groups, as well as the return of the chromosome browser. AncestryDNA idk they keep putting more things behind a paywall so there's that.......but I hope they improve genetic group detection specifically for Europe.

Well, AncestryDNA just had an update in October of this year, I've noticed that the more recent updates tend to be from August to October, so in other words, from late summer to early fall.

Here are my updated results (October 2024).

I tested my father for his birthday & the holidays, here are his results, which came around a week ago.

23andMe has two new updates, a family tree & Jewish genetic groups.

AncestryDNA still updates every year, one year (I think it was 2022) it was two times in one year, but usually they update August to October, 23andMe hasn't had a major update in a while now, but they still do smaller updates such as Genetic Groups & Sub-National or Sub-ethnic regions, they had updates for Colonial or Old-Stock White Americans, New World Blacks, Jews, British/Irish, Native Americans, Iberians, & few others.

As for 2025, I believe that AncestryDNA will have another update sometime in the late summer or early fall, I read on Reddit that they will have a community update very soon, as for 23andMe, I haven't heard anything new yet, & they been having problems due to a data hack of many customers earlier this year.

AncestryDNA since the update seems to bring the most accurate results:

Same with communities. I grew up in, and my family comes from, the highlighted area here (I grew up on the northeastern tip of mainland Nova Scotia, and my grandparents came from the other side of the Strait of Canso).
