Spokane burned in "the great fire of 1889"(not suspicious at all..............................................) as well, on the other side of the state..(278 miles away) I researched this early when I first heard of all this, I believe that it was for insurance purposes (robber barons) they state that is was all built with wood then rebuilt to meet fire codes, then a bunch of stone buildings burn down and they rebuild with wood again.
