The Miracle of Mallorca – a golfer’s paradise in the Balearic Islands

There is a not-so-little island off the coast of Spain which is doing its best to turn itself into a golfer’s paradise, and such is the progress being made that some are already calling it ‘The Miracle of Mallorca’. https://www.independent.ie/life/tra...aradise-in-the-balearic-islands/37649667.html

Son Gual soars up rankings

by Matthew Moore
Mallorca’s number one golfing address. German investor Adam Pamer spent 30M EURO on Golf Son Gual. It opened in 2007.
Golf Son Gual is now Mallorca’s number one tee-time and is quickly climbing the rankings into the elite of European golf.
The latest Top-100 European Courses ranking from Golf World magazine shows that Son Gual is the fourth highest climber.Son Gual – the World of Leading Golf’s champion course of 2014 – opened in 2007 and is 42 in the Golf World Top 100 Golf Courses in Continental Europe 2017 ranking, making the € 30m Thomas Himmel-designed course the top venue in Mallorca.

Stunning sunset over Golf Son Gual - number 53 in Golf World's European Top-100
Son Gual golf club is Mallorca’s finest golfing address. Built at a cost of 30m EURO to a single German investor Adam Pamer, the course only opened in 2007 but is already considered one of the finest tests of golf across Europe.

The recent jump in the rankings means Son Gual also enters the Top-10 nationally of golf courses for the first time at number nine.

German architect Thomas Himmel was given an incredible piece of land – close to Palma airport – on which to sculpt a truly first class golf course.

Son Gual boasts some of the largest teeing areas and bunker complexes in the world of golf alongside seven manmade lakes – the largest being 6,500 square meters. The clubhouse is a stunning renovated Italian style Palazzio.

A mixture of cool season grasses like blue, rye, and fescue in the mixed semi-rough give the course a lush natural appearance, while the greens and tees are bentgrass.
The immaculate condition of this course is achieved by using one of the most advanced golf course irrigation systems in the world.golf-son-gual-mallorca-bunker-hole3-high-res.1600x0[1].jpg
