there are 3 calculators which have components that will have a major role in making a people dark and "exotic"

1. the s-indian component from the harappaworld calculator

2. the Red Sea component from the Eurogenes K15 calculator

EDIT : DODECAD K10a is better ! the red sea there

3. the East African and West African components from Harappaworld


one of the major reasons why many Iranians dont pass as Kurdish for example and why they are so exotic is that Iranians can score a lot of the s-indian . and even some east and west african iirc. the reason why gulf arabs and north africans and even levantines often are darker and / or exotic and look so different from northern west asians is that they score a shit ton of red sea , a shit ton of african (especially north africans) , and even decent amount of s-indian sometimes


here are my scores :

1. s-indian : 1.98 %

2. Red Sea : 5.56 %

3. East African : 0 % , West African : 0.55 %

usually when it comes to the s-indian component we have came to the conclusion before that around 5% is the line where when exceeded the person has a high chance to look south asian influenced . usually below 5% will not show in most cases

the average score for us Kurds is 2.17 % btw. . so almost nothing . i calculated this score with more than 40 Kurdish gedmatch kit numbers

Persians can go up to 10 and even 14 % !!!!! and many have 6-7 %

we northern west asians have close to zero s-indian , zero or noise level at most ssa , and no more than 10% Red Sea

while people like north africans and gulf arabs have a lot of african and a lot of red sea

while people like south asians and even a decent amount of Iranians have a lot of s-indian

@Animal_within you are right with 99% of the things you covered in this thread, however, the red sea scores from K13 and k15 are not very reliable in my own experience. they tend to inflate or deflate the red sea score for some people sometimes. if you really care much for red sea component then consider dodecad k10a's red sea component instead

on a side note, I am not sure whether I look normal for Northern West Asian, because I have been placed as Levantine and Iranian far too often recently. Some people have gone as far as to claim that I am arab influenced, or they have claimed that I look Levantine first and foremost. That basically puts me in the atypical zone for Northern West Asia

There is another component from Harappaworld that exotifies the person who scores it. You forgot to mention it. It's Papuan and there are questionable West Asians who will score a few percent of it together with south indian, and of course south asians score some papuan as well
