Here I show a video that displays the caste paintings and modern examples in comparison to the population of New Spain
In the viceroyalty of New Spain (Mexico) in the eighteenth century, it became fashionable among the members of the society more wealthy a genre of painting that reflected the racial diversity of the colonies: the so-called "paintings of caste".

also does anyone have any idea when they stopped using caste systems in the New World? and when did people stop using them on each other? the only terms now used in Latin America is mestizo, mulatto, white (blanco), black (negro), indigenous (indigena), but other than those terms, all others have been lost and forgotten

first time I heard of zambos, triracials, harnizo, castizo etc was on these anthro forums, never in real life

As it was not an established system, as the number of mestizos increased, this custom stopped being used in the middle of the 18th century, leaving only the three ethnic groups, black, Indian and white and their direct ones, mestizo, mulatto and zambo, but was discontinued out of habit.
