I read a dna study of Okinawans, the hypothesis was that they came from Taiwan like the Polynesians. The results were that the older Okinawans, hunter gatherers, were Jomon, and that modern Okinawans carry Jomon ancestry at least before the coming of farmers of the Yayoi type.
