  • The only self-identified colonial Hispanos are the New Mexican Hispanos (red) & the Islenos of Louisiana, however a good chunk of the self-identified Mexican population in South Texas are Tejanos (being also colonial Hispanos who have been in Texas prior to Texas Annexatjon), & a tiny minority of the self-identified Mexican population in California are descended from Californios (pre-1848 Hispanic settlers in California).
  • Most of the Cuban-American population are over 90% Spanish (including Canary Islander), however only a small minority self-identity as Spanish on the Census.
