According to FamilySearch & few other sources, the county of Humboldt (where I'm from) in the U.S. state of California, had few Californios that settled here from the 1900s to the 1940s, coming from other parts of California, our county was claimed by Spain, & later Mexico, but it was never settled by Hispanics until after the Mexican-American War, the first non-Native Americans were mainly Anglo-Americans, many of them either fought in the war, or came for the Gold Rush, & very shortly after, the Timber Industry, a few were also from other White ethnicities, mainly Irish, Germans, & Anglo-Canadians (mainly from Acadia or Nova Scotia), someone on a local Facebook page commented that a couple of Californios had influence on the founding of Eureka, as well as Arcata (the two main population centers here), the city of Vallejo was named In honor of Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo (Californio general who fought on the Mexican side of the war, as well as one of the founding fathers of the U.S. of California, as he was one of the signers of the Constitution of California, of predominantly Spanish heritage, his father was from Los Altos de Jalisco, & his mother was born in Alta California to parents from Sinaloa, he was my 5th cousin (six times removed), born in Monterey, he founded the town of Sonoma, he wanted the city of Vallejo to be called Eureka, but either the name was already taken or he had at least some influence on the founding of the city of Eureka).
