In America, no one mistakes south asians for African-Americans, they look completely different. In fact even Sri Lankans look quite different cause they have different face shapes and body language etc, if you go to like remote states like Wyoming, even there people are familiar with indians and african americans.

Also Afghans do not look like SSA mixed Latinos lmao, I don't know why but there seems to be a big anthro myth among non-Americans on anthroforums about what Latinos look like. Latinos do not like Europeans or MENAs on average, they're mostly mixed race and Afghans in America, on average look more Caucasian than Latinos barring a few groups. In fact as a Pakistani I get mistaken by mexicans as mexican and central american all the time, same thing w/ nepalis, north indians and some bengalis.
