I have to admit I am loving the way public opinion has shifted and how there have been several killshots fired in the culture wars these days... and right-wingers are taking the L very hard. It’s hilarious.
Anyway, this isn’t about right vs left, white vs black, conservative vs liberal...
It’s been like this here too. Cold one day, hot the next.
I retired the phrase “hotter than Africa”, though. It was so cold in Cape Town even my Canadian ass was cold.
Namibia is hot though, like hot the second you cross the border... if you didn’t know any better, you’d think that’s where...
Never really dealt with them much. Some of them do seem insecure though.
Why they care so much about whiteness, I dunno... I'm Acadian, which is one of those "debatable if they are white" groups and when folks say we're not white, I take it as a compliment lol
When I think of white people I...
From my observation, I am seeing older white people change their minds.
Since the COVID-19 lockdowns, I have only been hanging around with white people. No disrespect to people of colour, it's just we are limited in how many people we can allow in our "bubble" and I obviously, chose relatives...
I support it. Police brutality is getting out of control, while at the same time they don’t seem to be doing their jobs of protecting people (unless they’re rich).
I don’t get why “black lives matter” is such a controversial statement. They’re not saying black lives are better, just that they...
Probably because one of the first people Europeans met were Mi'kmaq, who have higher rates of rosacea than other indigenous populations in the Americas (isolation meaning those genes spread in that population, I guess?). They looked really red in the winter due to that.
I have some Mi'kmaq...
Trudeau was pretty pissed and wants an investigation, but I dunno if it's a good idea for the PM to weigh in on this publicly because while, yeah, what the cops did was horrible, a public figure of his stature making a statement may have the unintended side-effect of swaying public opinion and...
The worst of it is the cop stopped the guy for an expired license plate.
All DMVs in Canada have been closed due to COVID-19, so nobody can get anything renewed right now, and the government has said that you don't have to renew your license plate, driver's license, or MVI this year due to the...
Oh yeah, they all hated women, loved putting others down (including each other), and yeah, like every thread was either about women, Muslims, or black people... or "leftists" (which to them is pretty much anyone to the left of Steve Bannon).
Meanwhile in Nova Scotia, a white guy was stockpiling illegal weapons and threatened to kill a cop. Several people, including his own family, reported it to the police and they did nothing.
The guy went on to kill 22 people, including one cop.
I knew most of these victims.
Race is a social construct but that doesn’t mean it’s not real. It has very real effects on people’s lives.
I don’t know why people are so invested in the myth that races are biological entities, and get so offended by the truth of it being a social construct.
Lots of things are social...
There were protests here in Halifax, Nova Scotia as well. Pretty huge turnout.
The sad part is the president of the US is inflaming it, rather than trying to calm it down. It’s ridiculous.
I heard a high-ranking military general stepped down after Trump suggested sending in troops (don’t blame...
