btw Loki the admin of TA banned me because I said ancient Jews weren't white like he said (saying "they look european because they were basically white ; implying modern middle easterners are mixed with arabs and black slaves lol)
That's BS. Lmao. Modern northern levantines are "whiter" than ancient Judeans/Israelites probably were

Funny thing, i remember there was a thread made by an armenian on TA(the guy with the pfp of his cartoon version with green eyes and black hair), claiming Armenia as the least standing protectors of white Europe.

Then there was a turkish member making some joke, refering armenians as brown people.
Loki was one of those people upvoting that turkish member's joke

In my opinion, Ashkenazis as a group look like what one would expect taking their autosomal DNA into consideration. Most of them to me at least look southern euro with some looking more levant shifted and the others more northern shifted
From my experience they actually tend to look whiter than south europeans but that's maybe due to genetic drift (btw that's why using modern samaritans or druze to establish the pigmentation of ancient levantines should be avoided)

That's because modern day Lebanese, Alawites and Druze have excess Northern West Asian admixture that was lacking in ancient southern Levantines. I wouldn't be surprised if ancient Judeans were more southern shifted than even Samaritans just because they were positioned more to the south towards Negev Desert and Northern Arabia

that's actually weird knowing that armenians are christians and historically often assaulted by neighbouring muslim empires ...can't believe such a low iq retard could make such a site

Depends on the Ashkenazi individuals that you come across. If you come across Bar Rafaeli then you will think that they look more northern than southern euros but if you come across Jeff Goldblum then that's a different story
Edit: Bar Rafaeli is even half Sephardic 😃

I think ancient southern levantines looked pretty much like modern christian minorities (+ samaritans) from that region but with much more darker types than today as pointed out by one study :

In addition, SNPs associated with phenotypic traits show that Sidon_BA and the Lebanese had comparable skin, hair, and eye colors (in general: light intermediate skin pigmentation, brown eyes, and dark hair) with similar frequencies of the underlying causal variants in SLC24A5 and HERC2, but with Sidon_BA probably having darker skin than Lebanese today from variants in SLC45A2 resulting in darker pigmentation (Table S2)."

that's why today you sometimes have christian levantines who produce such types :

These types were probably much more common back then

That's possible before many Northern Levantines obtained excess Northern West Asian admix

I think the Sidon_BA already had such type of ancestry If I'm not mistaken but it doesn't contradict what they say light skin probably went through massive selection since the neolithic. Minoans were very West med genetically and yet scholars reached the same conclusions when it comes to their pigmentation :

Using genotype data, we predicted that Pta08, Kou01, and Log02 most likely had brown eyes, dark brown to black hair, and dark skin (Table S1; STAR Methods). These predictions match the visual representations of male individuals from BA wall paintings of Minoan Crete for hair and eye color. The eye and hair color predictions were similar to those from later periods of the Aegean BA (Lazaridis et al., 2017). Although the overall prediction for all three individuals was of dark skin, they also all carried alleles strongly associated with lighter skin color (rs1426654 in the gene SLC24A5, and rs16891982 in SLC45A2) (Mathieson et al., 2015). The latter is in line with observations that skin depigmentation has been segregating since the Neolithic in southern Europe (Hofmanová et al., 2016; Mathieson et al., 2015).

It is interesting why certain physical traits such as lighter skin color and skeletal length have always been preferred by people ever since the existence of the human race
