vast majority of these people do not look south asian . the difference to indians is very big tbh. ...if you put them in western clothes and shaved them too etc. then even more

but they dont look kurdish either Avicenna . some individuals pass but as a whole they look kinda like their own thing . but these people in the video if you would ask which people they overlap with lookwise then i would say : Tajiks , Persians, Syrians , north Iraqis ,

some also look kinda like darker chechens or something

it is a great video for taxonomy btw. . well done avicenna . if he walked a little slower it would have been better though

North Iraq = Southern Kurdistan. So, by mentioning 'north iraqis' you do make connection with the (Bashuri) Kurds.

for me it doesn't make any sense when you connect Eastern Iranic people to the (Northern) Arabs and not to Kurds, who are Western Iranics themselves. Don't you think Eastern Iranic Afghans would be closer to Kurds, in looks and also genetically, than to Northern Iraqi Arabs, Arab Syrians and other Semites? Here is where you doesn't make any sense to me now.

because unlike you i dont link linguistics with race / ethnicity :)

and because i am looking at it objectively . i dont care if they are iranics or not . but i might have placed them wrong . either way they dont look kurdish to me . i know you will say they do because of muh iranic etc. lol

Semites have a lot Natufian and Eastern Mediterranean ancestry. I don't see much of that ancestry in the Afghans. Afghans don't even that much Anatolia_N ancestry in them.
While Afghans have a lot Iran_ChL and Iran_N ancestry. Kurds do also have a lot of that ancestry, while Semites don’t have a lot of that 'Iranic' ancestry.

So, I don't see any connection between the Semites (Afro-Asiatics) and the Afghans (Eastern Iranics). For me it doesn't make any sense. Afghans are by far closer to the Kurds, than to the Semites in 'Syria' (Levant) and 'Iraq'.

1. we are talking about looks not genetics . even if both go hand in hand they are not always perfectly synchron

2. levantine "semites" have decent chunk of what you call "iranic" ancestry

3. afghans have SOME Anatolia N

4. we are talking about looks not genetics . even if both go hand in hand they are not always perfectly synchron

  • There is by far more overlap between the Afghans and Kurds than between the Semites and Afghans.
  • Western Asian looking Afghans look much more like Kurds than Arabs.
  • Afghans have most of their Anatolia_N ancestry from Iran_ChL/BMAC people.
  • I see a clear difference between the Semites (arabs, jews, assyrians) and Kurds in a heartbeat. Like I see a clear difference between the Kurds and Turks in a heartbeat.
  • Afghans that look Semitic do almost not exist.

Like Zoro, you have a clear agenda against the Kurds.

Just print it in your head that Kurds and Turks are 2 very different separate people with a very different history, language, ancestry and origin.

Real Kurds don't look like Turks and real Turks don’t look like Kurd. Both are separate people. Looks-wise, I can mention at least 10 racial differences between Kurds and Turks, like head and face shapes, etc.

It is really enough is enough. Afghans connecting to 'northern iraqis' and syrians, but not to Kurds is madness.

Like Zoro dude tries to 'Desify'/'Vedoify' or even 'Turkify' the Kurds, most of the time it looks like you are doing your utmost best to de-Iranise the Kurds.

I don't like Persians as much as I don't like the Turks/Azeris. But people like it or not, Kurds ARE 'Western Iranic' people. And Afghans are the 'Eastern Iranic' people. You and I like it or not, there are many links between 'Western Iranic' Kurds and 'Eastern Iranic' Afghans.
Kurds are by far closer to the Afghans than to the ethnic Turks. By 'ethnic' Turks, I don't mean the assimilated Armenians, Georgians etc.

"darker chechens"

THIS. This is a funny thing i noticed some time ago. THere's an overlap between pashtuns and dagestanis(chechens and tabasarans moreso), both having certain types that look very much like each other, but skin colour is main difference. The overlap i see here is different to one i see in iranians. Despite being slightly darker, iranians have somewhat harder time passing in Kandahar than certain chechens/tabasarans(but have much easy time passing in urban tajik areas like Kabul, and specially Herat. Chechens however passes even better in mountanious areas of east AFG)

If you look somewhat at both caucasians and afghans, you'll notice this too. I believe lots of pashtuns would pass better amongst chechens than iranians, if we were all pale.
Also, a decent amount of iraqis and syrians really do pass well for kandaharis. I noticed this too. Iranians have lower amount of individuals who passes amongst us than the other groups.

I don't understand why all these groups obsess about becoming another group, like (some) Afghanis wanting to become Kurds. Where's the ethnic pride?

I dont think its about wanting to become another group

The guy who posts this video only says afghans looks like kurds, not that theyre kurds(though he clearly has delusions), similiar how iranians say they look like italians

Not necessarily speaking about the OP, but I have the impression that all these OWD types on the anthro-forums come from (former) colonial areas where your ancestry/closeness to the colonial ruler would directly or indirectly help you climb the social ladder, hence the obsession to adhere to such racial ladders and their implications.

Here's a crowd pic of locals from Chaman, Pakistan(right next to kandahar, though probably not to the people in video, since theyre from City of Kandahar):

Enough with this madness!!

Afghans have clearly their own genetic cluster and don't cluster with the Northern West Asians/Caucasians at all. Afghans or other Punjabis have absolutely nothing to do with the Caucasians, LMAO!
Notice how Pashtun_Afg are close to the 'Indus Basin' cluster on this academic PCA map.

from this study: https://www.researchgate.net/figure...alysis-based-on-autosomal-data_fig7_258350735

“Enough with the madness” Yes indeed. Enough with the madness, the BS and the foolishness by people such as yourself.

Using PCA plots to determine genetic relatedness or distances is funny. You have no idea what you are talking about. Let me teach you a little about PCAs.

“PCA results (Figure 17-19), evaluated through clusters or distances between individuals, do not provide meaningful biological or historical information, nor can they be used to support such claims.”

“the clustering of populations between other populations in the scatter plot has been regarded as “decisive proof” or “very strong evidence” of their admixture (Patterson et al. 2010), we demonstrated here that such patterns are an artifact of the sampling scheme and meaningless for any bio historical purposes. The clustering of the results, a subject that received much attention in the literature (e.g., Patterson, Price, and Reich 2006), is another artifact of the sampling scheme and likewise biologically meaningless”

PCA can be used to show almost whatever you want:

“ In evaluating the claims of Reich et al. (2009) that rest on PCA, we first replicated the finding of the original “Indian cline” (Figure 6A). We then garnered support for an alternative cline using Indians, Africans, and Europeans (Figure 6B). We then demonstrated that PCA results support Indians to be European (Figure 6C), East Asians (Figure 6D), and Africans (Figure 6E), as well as a two-ways admixed European-Asian population (Figure 6F).

“the distance between individuals and populations is meaningless and is an artifact of the cohort rather than an informative biological or demographic quantity.”

You should educate yourself before spewing trash like most of these genetic “experts” on different forums always do.
