As I'm visiting the Cape Mendocino (Cabo Mendocino) area in the small village of Petrolia, I'm honoring my very distant Filipino ancestry (coming from the Manila Galleons).
Cabo Mendocino has been a landmark since the 16th century, when Manila Galleons followed the prevailing westerlies across the Pacific to the Cape, then followed the coast south to Acapulco, Mexico.
So likely, I had Filipino, Spanish, & Mexican ancestors that traveled along this way & found this mysterious cape on the westernmost point of the Continental United Stat
