Entre las paradas gastronómicas confirmadas destacan Formatges Sa Vinya y Bodega Ribas, junto con otros proyectos que pondrán en valor el producto local.

Durante todo el día, a partir de las 12.00 horas, el público podrá disfrutar de:

• Estands gastronómicos con tapas y degustaciones a precios populares.
• Ambiente musical, con música en directo de Midnight Walkers a partir de las 16 horas.
• Talleres infantiles a cargo de Pic Ponent pensados para que los más pequeños aprendan y se diviertan mientras las familias comparten la jornada.

Los organizadores afirman que la cita refuerza la apuesta por consolidar a Gomila como “un espacio vivo, diverso y abierto al encuentro de residentes y visitantes”. ‘Los sábados son de Gomila’ se repetirá los próximos 25 de octubre y 29 de noviembre.

En el año 2009, la biógrafa Hortensia Campanella decidía titular su libro como Mario Benedetti. Un mito discretísimo. Este lunes 14 se cumplirán 107 años del nacimiento del escritor, que vivió en Palma durante tres años y estuvo veraneando otros quince en el Port de Pollença. Vista la escuálida repercusión de la efeméride, parece que la distancia que va de la discreción al olvido sea mínima.


Mario Benedetti (Tacuarembó, Uruguay, 14 de septiembre de 1920 – Montevideo, Uruguay, 2009) escribió en Mallorca Primavera con una esquina rota (1982), que obtuvo el Premio Llama de Oro 1987, de Amnistía Internacional. La novela ofrece el testimonio directo de la sociedad uruguaya oprimida por la dictadura, y presenta la visión de la profunda conmoción de lo que sucede, desde el exilio. En la Isla, donde vivió entre los años 1980 y 1983, Benedetti también escribió los cuentos y poemas que conforman el libro Geografías. Un médico argentino le aconsejó dejar Mallorca a causa del asma que padecía, y se instaló en Madrid, aunque siguió veraneando durante años en el Port de Pollença, en el Hotel Sis Pins, alojándose siempre en la misma habitación. En 1985, Benedetti regresó a la Isla para elaborar un libro de artista con el escultor Enrique Broglia, que incluía el poema El Baquiano y los suyos, de homenaje al escritor y político José Gervasio Artigas, con ocho litografías.


En una crónica de S. Coquillat, publicada en Ultima Hora (25/9/2006), su amigo Coco Meneses comentaba que, al llegar a Palma, «Benedetti alquiló un apartamento en la plaza Gomila, por 300 dólares; su situación económica no era buena porque sus derechos de autor estaban prácticamente congelados a causa de su comportamiento político y no publicaba sus obras en países como Uruguay, Argentina y Chile». Benedetti abandonó su país tras el golpe de Estado del 27 de junio de 1973 y se exilió en Argentina, Perú, Cuba y España. Así llegó a Mallorca, en un vuelo procedente de París. La mala situación económica mejoró al vender los derechos de La tregua para una serie colombiana y Benedetti pudo comprarse un apartamento en la calle Port de Cariño, en el barrio del Fortí de Palma.

Entre los discretos homenajes a Benedetti, hay que destacar que la Asociación de la República O. Del Uruguay de Mallorca ha organizado un certamen literario, de poesía y narrativa. Está programado que se entregue en un acto que coincida con el día en el que habría cumplido cien años. Los responsables de la librería Embat de Palma celebrarán un recital donde participarán lectores y amigos del autor en Mallorca. Probablemente se celebrará, según avanzan, a finales de este mes o a principios de octubre. Además, desde la misma librería ha surgido la propuesta de instalar una placa conmemorativa en la calle palmesana donde vivió el escritor. Alfaguara publica Antología poética, preparada por Joan Manuel Serrat que, en 1985, trabajó con Benedetti en la producción del disco El sur también existe. Alianza Editorial se suma a la conmemoración con la publicación de los cinco títulos presentes en su catálogo en versión digital: La tregua, Gracias por el fuego, Pedro y el Capitán, Antología poética y Cuentos.
La Universidad de Alicante, donde tiene un centro de estudios latinoamericanos con su nombre y está depositada parte de su biblioteca personal, ha suspendido el congreso 100 años de Mario Benedetti, por la situación sanitaria, que debía celebrarse del 21 al 23 de octubre. En Valencia, se prevé la celebración de un Encuentro Internacional de Poetas que recordará su figura. En Uruguay, la celebración del centenario se divide en actos estrictamente literarios y eventos solidarios, como la entrega del tercer Premio Mario Benedetti a la lucha por los derechos humanos. Se prepara un homenaje virtual consistente en la locución de relatos del autor, por parte de creadores de Argentina, Chile y España. El bailarín Igor Yebra ultima la creación de un espectáculo de danza basado en La tregua.

El Terreno: la recuperación de un espacio que huele a cultura e historia​

La llegada de nuevos vecinos e inversión privada y extranjera agitan la fisonomía de un barrio que reclama atención por parte de Cort​

Por todos los rincones de El Terreno/Gomila huele a historia y cultura. Los orígenes de ese singular espacio a los pies del bosque y el Castell de Bellver se remontan a poblaciones iniciales a finales del siglo XVIII, para en las décadas posteriores crecer como zona residencial o de veraneo de las clases más acomodadas de la sociedad palmesana, pero también de aquellos que cruzaron el charco para hacer fortuna y numerosos artistas de renombre a lo largo de los años (Santiago Rusiñol, Rubén Darío,Mario Benedetti,Camilo Jose Cela...). Fueron surgiendo y creciendo villas con aire mallorquin y el núcleo añadió espacios emblemáticos como la Plaça Gomila, cuyos orígenes radican bien entrado el siglo XIX, cuando la familia Gomila cedió ese espacio para disfrute público.


Más adelante fue un templo del ocio, teniendo como eje salas de fiestas míticas como 'Tito's', para con el cambio de siglo experimentar una fase de decadencia que no ha llegado a alcanzar a su núcleo duro, definido por esas calles estrechas, empinadas, empedradas o con interminables hileras de escalones que miran al cielo. La nueva y emergente inversión privada y extranjera en su mayor parte ha permitido agitar de nuevo la vida del barrio, que mantiene su esencia, conviviendo con la arquitectura de vanguardia encajada junto a la tradicional que da color y aire fresco, recuperando espacios venidos a menos como Gomila.

Teresa Alonso es, desde 2020, la presidenta de la Associació de Veïns El Terreno Bellver, que tiene en el Casal de Barri su centro de operaciones y ha iniciado una campaña de comunicación bajo el lema 'Yo soy El Terreno', apoyándose en su página web (www.elterreno.info) y las redes sociales (Instragram, Facebook...) o el hashtag #yosoyelterreno en varios idiomas. Un equipo que busca incorporar savia nueva y a esos vecinos llegados de otros países persigue devolver el ritmo y la vida al barrio, contando con cerca de un centenar de socios, aunque realmente activos hay una veintena, asegura Alonso.


Recorriendo las calles de El Terreno llaman la atención la parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la Salud, el colegio sueco, el CEIP El Terreno o el Col·legi La Inmaculada, además de una iglesia filipina. Pero es la Plaça Gomila la particular 'zona cero'. Allí, Teresa Alonso señala al estado del monumento dedicado a Pau Gomila, el hombre que inspiró ese rincón de Palma.

Santiago Rusiñol, la pasion por Mallorca.

Mallorca es una isla cuyo nombre va indisolublemente ligado al recuerdo de destacados e interesantes personajes, tanto los nacidos en suelo mallorquín como las numerosas y personalidades forasteras que la isla ha acogido en distintas etapas históricas. Una de estas figuras es, indiscutiblemente, el pintor y literato Santiago Rusiñol (Barcelona, 1861 – Aranjuez, 1931), quien ya en su primer viaje a la isla ―durante la primavera de 1893― encontró en aquella luminosa tierra la posibilidad de tomar notas personales, en las que la vibración de la luz se erigió en un elemento central. Rusiñol quedó seducido por Mallorca, al percatarse de la diversidad de motivos de inspiración que ésta le ofrecía, una riqueza que expresó no tanto pictóricamente como desde el punto de vista literario, a través de artículos publicados en La Almudaina y La Vanguardia, en los que se recrea en todas las buenas y sorprendentes cosas que encuentra en la isla.

Nueve años después, Rusiñol regresó a Mallorca. Fue entonces cuando se puso a expresar con los pinceles toda la fascinación que la isla ejercía en él: la calma de los paisajes, la delicadeza de los patios, la tristeza de las aguas, el silencio de los valles, la potencia de las piedras antiguas, las floraciones alegres.

La exposición que presentamos, “Rusiñol, la pasión por Mallorca. Del luminismo y el simbolismo a la estampa japonesa”, abraza distintos períodos que se refieren a la relación de Santiago Rusiñol con la isla, un primero, un espacio corto, dos meses del año 1893. Lógicamente, está representado el período comprendido entre 1901 y 1907, los años más importantes del pintor en su relación con la isla. También se tratan las siguientes estancias en Mallorca, períodos que el artista iba alternando con temporadas en otros rincones. Son años de pasión compartida, pero con la isla siempre presente en su pensamiento.

En esta exposición se han querido mostrar dos aspectos diferenciales de la pintura de Rusiñol en Mallorca: uno es la utilización de la estampa japonesa, con soluciones muy alejadas de la manera de proceder académica, hecho que queda unido a su voluntad de seguir las escuelas de moda europeas ―como fueron, entre otras, el luminismo y el simbolismo―, sin olvidar de tratar los paralelismos de su obra con la poesía y la pintura simbolista. Rusiñol no dejó tampoco de captar, con mirada inteligente, las valientes formas de trabajar la pintura ―como la de Mir y la de Degouve de Nuncques entre otros―; un cúmulo de aspectos que comportaron que consiguiera, con su curiosidad e inteligencia, construir una obra eminentemente personal.

Caminaba Santiago Rusiñol (1861-1931) por la Plaza Gomila en dirección al centro de Palma cuando al pasar el tranvía el conductor le dijo: «Returaré i podrá pujar, don Santiago». A lo que el escritor respondió, muy educadamente: «No, no, grácies, és que avui tenc un poc de pressa». De hecho, en su obra L'illa de la Calma (1922), Rusiñol describe el tranvía palmesano más como una reunión familiar o un casino donde mantener conversaciones, que como máquina per fer camí, escribe, dada la lentitud de sus desplazamientos.

El pintor, escritor y ensayista catalán había venido por vez primera a Mallorca con el también artista Joaquim Mir en los años a caballo entre los siglos XIX y XX y sus estancias periódicas se prolongarían hasta 1923. Compartía con otros intelectuales y artistas catalanes, europeos y latinoamericanos que se establecieron en Mallorca en torno a 1900 la visión de la isla como el paraíso perdido(es que lo es...), el lugar del permanente idilio con la naturaleza, en las antípodas de los avances de la civilización industrial y materialista a los que se oponía.

French archaeologists have made an amazing discovery off the coast of Brittany, a 120-metre-long, complex, megalithic structure dating back to 5000 BC. The size of structure, which is made of stone slabs, boulders of granite and standing stones, makes it the largest underwater structure ever found in France and the fact it dates back to the Mesolithic-Neolithic transition is just astonishing, because it shows just how sophisticated people were. What has been called an ancient monumental wall in press reports, it’s been found near Ile de Sein, a small island at the western tip of Brittany, now sitting some 9 metres underwater. And the discovery is even more interesting because there is the story of a mythical city called Ys, which was apparently off the coast of Brittany and swallowed up by the ocean. The legend persisted and developed for centuries, from oral traditions to published writings, songs, poems, music and art. The city’s location was said to be just kilometres east of the wall’s location and some experts think there could well be some real history behind the myth.

Edgar Cayce said in his readings that the builders of the Great Pyramid left a record of the history of mankind from the beginning under the great Sphinx. He said that the entrance to this "Hall of Records" was by the right front forepaw of the Sphinx.

In 1982, when Stanford Research Institute did acoustical soundings under the right front forepaw of the Sphinx, there were no indications of openings along the paw itself-but under the large masonry box behind the forepaw, there were dead spots in three different places, indicating open spaces underground. In addition, earlier tests indicated that there was a vertical shaft underground there. So I believe that this could be where the entrance to the Hall of Records is located.


Very few people realize that the Great Pyramid had eight sides. This was observed in 1940, when a British military plane flew over the Great Pyramid at sunset on the equinox and took a photograph which showed a shadow of one of the sides. Remarkably, this feature can only be seen from the air at sunrise or sunset on the spring or fall equinox. It is not visible at any other time of the year. The way the builders of the Great Pyramid must have accomplished this was by indenting the sides by 1%, so that the sun has to be perfectly aligned with the pyramid for the shadow to appear. Perhaps this was done to tell us that the Hall of Records will be opened at sunrise or sunset on one of the equinoxes.

With this dating, the fossil specimen of the new species Protoanisolarva juarezi is now considered to be the oldest fossilized mosquito in the world, even predating the first known dinosaurs. Dudar del origen de la paella puede ser considerado casi un sacrilegio en la Comunidad Valenciana(si?la paella es de origen arabe y adivina kienes eran los arabes de antaño?Los bascos...si,si), santo y seña del manjar cuya base es el arroz y cuyos condimentos y acompañantes son tan variados como cuestionados. Sin embargo, una voz autorizada del sector culinario ha vuelto a poner en tela de juicio una receta que, pese a todo, cuenta con un fuerte arraigo en Euskadi. Un hecho que se traduce, por ejemplo, en el tradicional certamen de paellas de Getxo, una jornada que se celebra por todo lo alto en la localidad de la Margen Derecha.
El hostelero, escritor y presentador Alberto Fernández Bombín ha sido el encargado de abrir esta polémica. Es la paella, seña de identidad de la gastronomía española, de origen valenciano, ¿o no? Las declaraciones de Fernández Bombín en 'El Programa de Ana Rosa' asegurando que el plato de arroz por excelencia nació en el País Vasco han encendido las redes.



Después de estas declaraciones, han sido mucho los usuarios de Twitter que se han mostrado indignados con el presentador del programa 'Para comerte mejor'. «La paella es única y valenciana, no vasca»(jajaja me meo...) o «Tiene la misma credibilidad que mi abuela (maña de pura cepa) que como no podía ni ver a mi madre andaluza un día le soltó a sus nietos que el gazpacho era aragonés» han sido algunos de los tuits en respuesta al hostelero.
Pero esta teoría no es nueva. Muchos son los que han afirmado que la paella solo puede haber nacido en Euskadi. Y ¿por qué?. Todos se apoyan en un mismo argumento, el origen de las paelleras, el recipiente fundamental para hacer una paella. Sin una paellera, podrás cocinar un arroz al horno, caldoso o de cualquier otro tipo, pero no una paella. Y es que en la época en la que nació la paella, solo en las acerías vascas eran capaces de producir paelleras para uso particular a un precio razonable.


Otro defensor de esta teoría es el escritor Emili Piera, que en su libro 'La cocina de la Albufera y las marjales (2016)' proclama que «La paella es un invento vasco». Argumenta que «no puede existir la paella como plato popular hasta que la siderurgia vasca fue capaz de fabricar paelleras a un precio asequible. Puede que anteriormente familias de la alta burguesía y de la nobleza hicieran paella, pero una familia corriente, pobre, no se podía pagar una paellera hecha por un herrero a golpes de martillo», señala en la publicación.
«¿Por qué la primera receta de paella fue vasca?», se interrogaba el pasado mes de febrero Paco Alonso en La Vanguardia. «Puede que alguien se sorprenda por la juventud de la paella», indica el gastrónomo valenciano. «Es un invento reciente y su uso se populariza cuando la siderurgia llega al pueblo llano. Y ahí los vascos jugaban con cierta ventaja.


Pero esta no es la única polémica que ha vivido la paella que fue declarada Bien de Interés Cultural Inmaterial por la Generalitat. En octubre de 2016 el popular chef británico Jamie Oliver eligió como plato del día de su programa su propia versión de la paella, a la que incorporó pimientos, guisantes, zanahorias, pollo... y chorizo. Su propuesta estuvo a punto de originar un conflicto diplomático, aunque en Twitter se mezclaban los comentarios en defensa de la evolución culinaria, las críticas indignadas a semejante sacrilegio(lol..) por parte de los defensores del canon paellil y bastantes propuestas surrealistas. El periodista español Antonio Villarreal le replicó: «Mi versión de 'fish and chips' lleva berenjenas y pato». Todo un 'pecado' para los entendidos. Pero hay que añadir algo : si es cierto que la paella es vasca, los primeros arroces secos que se comían en los años 40 en los hogares vascos, el arrosikua, llevaba entre otras cosas, chorizo cocido.
Según una reciente investigación de la Universidad Católica de Valencia el famoso plato debe llevar arroz, agua, aceite de oliva, sal, azafrán, tomate, judía verde plana, garrofó, pollo y conejo.
Sea como fuere, la paella es un plato que ha crecido y evolucionado en la Comunidad Valenciana( y quien fundo Valencia?Oh..), donde se ha convertido en un estandarte de esa gastronomía. Un ejemplo destacado de este posicionamiento a nivel internacional es el de la pastelera menorquina Cristina Jiménez, quien hace aproximadamente un año abrió La Colmena, la primera pastelería en Australia con producto mallorquín. Su negocio ha prosperado notoriamente, luchando por satisfacer la creciente demanda. Sus ensaïmades caseras, para las cuales importa la calabaza especial desde Mallorca para crear el famoso relleno de cabello de ángel, se han convertido en las creaciones más demandas. Este éxito es un testimonio del alcance global de la gastronomía mallorquina y su capacidad para deleitar paladares en todo el mundo.

Nuestra Isla ofrece una gastronomía única y auténtica que refleja su historia, su cultura y su geografía. Así pues, no cabe duda de que la gastronomía mallorquina es un atractivo más para visitar la Isla y disfrutar de su belleza y su encanto. Y qué mejor época para hacerlo que el mes de diciembre, donde las comidas y sus productos toman especial protagonismo en estas fiestas tan señaladas del último mes del año.

Respecto a las bebidas, el vino de Mallorca tiene relevancia tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. Si hay una fiesta típica en la Isla es la del vermar, cuando se produce la vendimia y se empieza a elaborar el vino tan característico de Mallorca. Este cuenta con dos Denominaciones de Origen (Binissalem y Pla i Llevant) y tres identificaciones geográficas de Vins de la Terra (Illes Balears, Mallorca y Serra de Tamuntana-Costa Nord).
